New Delhi: 106 people have been detained in the countrywide raids conducted by central agencies in the houses and offices of the Popular Front leaders. 22 people from different districts of Kerala were taken into custody, including Popular Front National Chairman OMA Salam. Popular Front leaders including National Secretary Nasruddin Elamaram and State President CP Muhammad Basheer were arrested in NIA raids on houses and offices of Popular Front leaders across the state. Hard disks, mobile phones, and pamphlets were seized in the raid. Popular Front activists protested against the raid in various districts.
A hard disk was seized in a raid at the Popular Front State Committee office in Meenchanta, Kozhikode. Popular Front leader P Koya was taken into custody from here. In Malappuram, national chairman OMA Salam was taken into custody from his house in Manjeri and Popular Front state president CP Muhammad Basheer from Tirunavaya. The NIA raid took place at the district committee office of the Popular Front at Kannur police station at around 4 am. After the raid, the Popular Front workers blocked the national highway at Kannur Caltex. Central agencies raided two places in the Kasaragod district. The raid took place at the office of the Popular Front of India operating in Perumbala Panalam and at the house of district president CT Sulaiman in Thrikaripur.
In Thiruvananthapuram, raids were conducted at the Manakkad district committee office of the Popular Front and PFI leader Ashraf Moulavi’s house at Poonthura. A joint investigation by ED and NIA was conducted. The investigation team returned after seizing 4 mobile phones, 3 books, and 6 pamphlets. The NIA raids took place at various places in Thrissur district where Yahia took the state committee leaders into custody, Pathanamthitta Kadammanitta Popular Front district secretary Sadiq Ahmed, and Adoor and Palagode PFI district committee offices were raided by the NIA.
