New Delhi: The Center has issued updated travel guidelines in the wake of the discovery of new strains of the coronavirus in the country. The new rule applies to travelers except those from the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.
According to the new guidelines, travelers coming to India are required to upload a self-attested affidavit on the Air Suvidha Portal. Also, the RTPCR test report should be uploaded. Uploading false information may be considered a criminal offense.
Only those who are negative in the RTPCR test conducted 72 hours before departure are allowed to board the aircraft.
Those arriving in India after traveling through the UK, Europe, and the Middle East are required to undergo RTPCR testing at their own expense upon arrival in the country. This is mandatory. As there are no direct flights to India from South Africa and Brazil, those from these two countries will be included in the above category.
At the same time, all passengers arriving or departing by direct flight from the UK, Europe, and the Middle East are required to disclose their 14-day travel history.
The South African variant of the coronavirus has so far been found in four people and the Brazilian variant in one. Both of these newly discovered variants are highly contagious. The UK version of the virus has so far been confirmed in 187 people in the country.
