New Delhi: Supreme Court allows EWS reservation in NEET PG admission. The Supreme Court has directed that 10% financial reservation and 27% OBC reservation will be implemented this academic year.
The Supreme Court said it would examine in detail the constitutional validity of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS)s reservation. It was agreed that the annual income limit for EWS reservations would be Rs. 8 lakhs.
The verdict is a relief to both resident doctors and the central government. Resident doctors had told the court that there was a shortage of doctors in hospitals because the PG admission process was withheld NEET P.G. The Central Government had sought permission to conduct counseling.
The Central Government has introduced a 10 percent reservation in the NEET All India Quota for the economically backward among the advanced. The petitioners allege that setting the annual income limit for financial reservation at Rs 8 lakh was a unilateral move. 27% OBC. The petitioners had also questioned the action of the Central Government in imposing reservation.
The petitions were adjourned to March 3 for further hearing in the forward reservation case. The court accepted the recommendation of the Ajay Bhushan Pandey Committee.
