The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has announced a 24-hour nationwide strike over the killing of a young doctor in Kolkata. IMA’s nationwide strike is protesting against the murder of the woman doctor and the violence committed in the hospital. The IMA said in a press release that the central and state governments have failed to provide protection to health workers. The strike will last for 24 hours from 6 am on Saturday to 6 am on Sunday.
Following the strike, doctors will boycott OP and scheduled surgeries nationwide. However, emergency departments have been exempted from the strike. Meanwhile, the CBI interrogated three of the young doctor’s classmates. The CBI has questioned the doctors who were on duty on the day of the murder. The CBI has also issued notices to eight doctors to appear for questioning.
