Srinagar: Following the resignation of Ghulam Nabi Azad, five Congress leaders in Jammu and Kashmir announced their resignation. The resignation was announced at Ghulam Nabi Azad’s residence. Leaders informed that the future decision will be taken by Ghulam Nabi Azad. Former MLAs GM Saruri, Haji Abdul Rashid, Chaudhary Mohammad Akram, Mohammad Amin Bhatt and Gulzar Ahmed Wani left the party.
Meanwhile, Ghulam Nabi Azad had announced that he would form a new party after resigning from the Congress. Dismissing the rumors that he will join the BJP, he has announced that he will form a new party.
Azad said that the national potential will be checked later.
Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from Congress after strongly criticizing Rahul Gandhi. Later, his followers in Jammu and Kashmir have also resigned from the Congress.
Earlier, Ghulam Nabi Azad had resigned hours after being appointed as the chairman of the Congress campaign committee in Jammu and Kashmir. He had pointed out that being appointed to this post was tantamount to his demotion.
Ghulam Nabi Azad was angered by the removal of his close associate Ghulam Ahmed Mir from the post of party state president. Vikar Rasool Vanni was appointed as PCC president by the party following the long-running battle in the Jammu and Kashmir Congress.
