New Delhi: As part of the state government’s new liquor policy, liquor sales in Delhi will be completely privatized.
Under the new policy, shops with an area of 500 square feet will be fully air-conditioned and fitted with CCTV. Customers can choose their favorite brands as in shopping malls. Liquor can also be purchased after tasting at super premium shops.
Of the 250 liquor outlets currently state-owned by the private sector, 850 were given to private companies through open tender. New such bars were opened in 32 zones of the city. The new excise policy also allows the sale of bottled liquor in restaurants. The policy clarifies that liquor will be served in glasses or full bottles in restaurants and that it is the full responsibility of the licensee to ensure that the liquor is not taken out.
