Shimla: The search for missing persons in a landslide on the National Highway in Kannur, Himachal Pradesh, has resumed. So far 13 bodies have been recovered. Thirty people are still believed to be trapped in the bus and car involved in the tragedy.
The accident took place at 12.45 pm yesterday when vehicles were crossing the national highway. The rocks were falling on top of the vehicles. Himachal Transport Corporation bus, truck and tourist car were crashed in the accident. The vehicles were completely destroyed when the soil and rocks collapsed. Traffic was also disrupted. The landslide was reported after days of heavy rains. The Army and the Disaster Management Force are involved in the rescue operation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced Rs 2 lakh assistance to the families of those killed in the accident. Fifty thousand rupees will be given to the injured.
