Kochi: The police will bear the medical expenses of the police officers who were injured while preventing violence by foreign workers in Kizhakkambalam. Police officers injured in the violence will be reimbursed for treatment. State police chief Anil Kant said the government had also decided to pay the patients who were undergoing treatment.
At the same time, the ADGP directed the police to maintain law and order in the wake of the violence against the police. The ADGP suggested that the police should ensure better cooperation with other state workers. DYSPs and SHOs should visit labor camps regularly. Workers should be given police helpline numbers. He also suggested that an officer who speaks Hindi and Bengali should be posted at police stations to resolve workers’ grievances.
