New Delhi: NV Ramana has been sworn in as the 48th Chief Justice of India at 11 am today. Only a handful of people attended the swearing-in ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan during the Covid crisis.
At the same time, family, friends, and well-wishers have the opportunity to hear the case that the Chief Justice is considering first after being appointed to office. But in special cases, restrictions have been imposed.
NV Ramana’s term as Chief Justice will be 16 months. This will be until August 26, 2022. Meanwhile, the new Chief Justice will consider on Tuesday the case taken suo moto by the Supreme Court in the Covid crisis. Acting Chief Justice NV Ramana will consider several cases, including the controversial Rafals, Jammu and Kashmir, and CAA-NRC.
