New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has approached the Supreme Court seeking the cancellation of anticipatory bail of the accused in the ISRO scam case. The CBI has sought cancellation of the anticipatory bail of accused S Vijayan, Thambi S, Durgadath, PS Jayaprakash, and former Intelligence Bureau Deputy Director RB Sreekumar. The CBI wants the accused to be questioned in custody to find out the facts of the case of national importance.
The CBI has said that the charges against the accused are serious and that the release of the accused on bail will affect the speed of the investigation. The CBI said in the petition that many witnesses were not willing to testify as the accused were out on bail.
RB Sreekumar is the seventh accused in the conspiracy case. S Vijayan is the first accused, Thambi S Durgadath is the second accused and PS Jayaprakash is the 11th accused. Nambi Narayanan had said that he had known Sreekumar since he was the commander of the VSSC. Nambi Narayan said Sreekumar was angry with him for rejecting the demand for a job for a close relative and had threatened to grieve in the future. The probe team led by CBI DySP Sunil Singh Rawat said that Sreekumar should be questioned in custody to prove the allegation.
