With the commissioning of INS Visakhapatnam, India has topped the list of leading countries capable of designing and building state-of-the-art warships.
INS Visakhapatnam is a Destroyer ship developed indigenously by India. The ship is 163 meters long and weighs 7400 tons and is equipped with state-of-the-art missiles including BrahMos. It can also carry two helicopters. INS Visakhapatnam will operate even in the atmosphere of chemical and nuclear attacks.
At the same time, Visakhapatnam has the distinction of being the largest ship in the Navy’s Destroyer category. Meanwhile, the Mormugao, Imphal, and Surat ships are yet to be completed in the Visakhapatnam class.
