Kandahar: Indian photojournalist and Pulitzer Prize winner Danish Siddiqui has been killed in Afghanistan. He was killed while reporting clashes in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar. Siddiqui’s death was reported by the Afghan media TOLOnews.
Danish Siddiqui is a photojournalist for the Reuters news agency. Siddiqui arrived in Spin Boldak to take pictures of a confrontation between the Afghan army and the Taliban. His report, which includes graphic images of Taliban rockets targeting military vehicles, was released three days ago.
Siddiqui received the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for his portrayal of the plight of Rohingya refugees. Siddiqui’s films on the Nepal tragedy, the protest against the Delhi Citizenship Amendment Act, and the covid tragedy in India have garnered world attention.
Siddiqui’s image of mass cremation of the bodies of men killed in the second wave of covid was widely seen in Delhi cemeteries.
