New Delhi: India canceled the Thar Express from Jodhpur in Rajasthan to Karachi in Pakistan. The Thar Express has been canceled due to poor democratic relations between Pakistan India in the Kashmir issue. North Western Railways said the train will not leave today (Friday).
Authorities have said that Thar Express to and from Pakistan will be canceled until further orders. “Only 45 people have booked tickets to Pakistan,” said Abhay Sharma, chief public relations officer, North West Railways.
Pakistan had already canceled its train service to Jodhpur. Pakistani Railway Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad announced in Islamabad on August 9 that Pakistan’s train service to India will no longer be held up after Pakistan’s diplomatic ties with India.
Diplomatic relations with Pakistan have been canceled following India’s repeal of Article 370 of the Constitution that gives Kashmir a special status. Bilateral trade has also been halted.
