Srinagar: The leader of the militant group Hizbul Mujahideen, Saifullah, has been killed. Saifullah was killed in a clash in Srinagar, news agency PTI reported. Meanwhile, police said that another terrorist has been arrested and interrogation is continuing.
“This is a great achievement for the police and the security forces. It is not a small achievement,” said Kashmir IG Vijay Kumar. Authorities say Saifullah, who took over the organization after Riyaz Naik was killed in May this year, is one of the main militants in the Kashmir Valley. The clash took place at Rangreth in Srinagar this morning.
The security forces conducted the search based on intelligence about the presence of militants in the area. The militants opened fire on them. Saifullah’s body was found during a post-encounter search.
