Dispur: Himanda Bishwa Sharma has been elected as the new Chief Minister of Assam. Incumbent Chief Minister Sarvananda Sonewal proposed the name at a BJP assembly party meeting in Guwahati. The Himanda-led cabinet will be sworn in on Monday. Union observers Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and National General Secretary Arun Singh were present at the party’s assembly party meeting in Guwahati. All preparations for the swearing-in have been completed.
Following the expansion of the covid, less than 200 guests will attend the ceremony, which will meet the criteria for swearing in. The leaders had a meeting with Sarbanadh Senowal and Himanda Bishwa Sharma, who are hoping for the Chief Minister’s chair. This time, the BJP faced the election without fielding a chief ministerial candidate. The BJP has 60 members in the 126 – member assembly.
