North Indian states scorched by heat wave. 12 people died in 60 hours due to sunstroke in Rajasthan. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that caution should be exercised in the states which have declared red alert due to the heat wave.
States like Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and UP are burning. The average temperature is around 45 degrees. The situation in Rajasthan is critical. Extreme caution has been issued in the state as the temperature is likely to rise up to 51 degrees. In Phalodi, Jaipur, the temperature crossed 50 degrees.
Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner and Churu are also very hot. The death toll due to sunstroke has risen to 12 in two days. In Delhi, the temperature reached above 45 degrees in six places, making life difficult. Cooch Bihar in Bengal, Silchar in Assam and Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh are experiencing scorching heat breaking all-time records. Heat is intensifying in Punjab and Maharashtra.
Due to extreme heat, the district administration has announced a curfew till May 31 in Akola, Maharashtra. District administrations have instructed to exercise caution while going out between 11 am and 5 pm. The heat wave will continue in the coming days in states including Delhi. Red alert has also been announced in the states of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.
