Hyderabad: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah has said that banning the sale of halal products in the country is not under the consideration of the central government. Amit Shah was talking to the media when he came to Telangana for assembly election campaign.
The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has banned the manufacture, sale and storage of halal products in the state. It has also been clarified that only products for export will be exempted. In this situation, questions were raised about the central government’s stance.
The Uttar Pradesh government’s action was to clarify that the food safety department has the authority to check quality and issue certificates. The UP government had said that the halal seal was an attempt to create division in the society and give an unfair advantage to a section.
