Guwahati: Assam police have arrested 14 people for posting pro-Taliban posts on social media. Police have arrested 14 people who came out in support of Taliban activities on social media. According to police, the accused have been booked under sections of the Illegal Activities (Defense) Act, IT Act, and the CRPC. Chief Public Relations Officer Rajib Saikia said two people each from Kamrup, Dhubri, and Barpeta districts had been arrested for sharing pro-Taliban posts.
One each was arrested from Darang, Kachar, Hailakandi, South Salmara, Hojai, and Golpara districts. One of those arrested was a student. A police official said they were on the lookout for pro-Taliban posts being shared on social media.
