Shimla: Fourteen people are suspected to have died due to floods and landslides in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district. There are reports that there have been casualties due to heavy rains in nearby districts as well.
The body of the girl whose house collapsed in Mandi Baghi nullah was found half a kilometer away. Five members of the family were swept away and went missing. Eight members of another family are suspected to have died in the landslide. Their house was completely destroyed.
Many roads in the district were washed away by rain and mountain floods. The railway bridge collapsed. There are also reports that many vehicles have been swept away. Accurate information is not available due to disruption of transport and exchange facilities. The rescue operation was also delayed.
