New Delhi: The National Highways Authority (NHA) has taken further action on a report that toll plazas in the country could not be controlled despite the introduction of a fast tag system. Authorities found that the main reason for this was that the Toll Plaza authorities were trying to smuggle the vehicles by accepting the money directly. Based on this, the toll plaza rules were revised.
At toll plazas, if the queue extends more than 100 meters, vehicles will be allowed to pass free of charge until they reach that limit. The NHAI clarified that a vehicle should not be in the toll plaza for more than 10 seconds. Each toll line will have yellow stripes to ensure a 100-meter limit. If the vehicle exceeds this limit, it must be transported free of charge. The revised guidelines also stipulate that responsible behavior should come from toll booth employees.
