Air India Express employees have decided to call off the unexpected strike that caused distress to the passengers. The decision was made in the context of management’s assurance that they will look into the problems of the employees and take back the dismissed employees. The strike was settled in a meeting called by the Central Labor Commission.
About 300 cabin crew members, including pilots, went on a lightning strike on sick leave last day. The employees’ strike was in protest against the policies of the Tata Group-owned company and the changes in the service and wage system. Due to this, more than 170 services were canceled and the passengers were in distress. However, the employees decided to call off the strike as the management assured to look into the problems of the employees. The management also assured to reinstate the 25 dismissed employees.
A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the management and the employees. Cabin crew members who have taken sick leave will resume work immediately after providing a fitness certificate. On 28th of this month, both sides will hold talks again in Delhi under the mediation of the Regional Labor Officer. The Regional Labor Commission has stated that the complaints of the employees are true and there has been a violation of the law.
