New Delhi: Delhi’s air quality remains poor. Air quality weekly index between 350 and 400. Low wind speed and burning of agricultural residues in neighboring states have caused air pollution levels to rise.
After Diwali, Delhi’s air pollution levels are on the rise. Air quality in Delhi remains very poor for the eighth consecutive day. The air quality index reached very poor conditions for the first time on the 23rd of this month. Visibility started dimming in many parts of Delhi. At present the air quality index is between 350 and 400. Air quality index is 355 in Dilla University campus, 340 in Mathura Road near Delhi and 392 in Noida. Currently, the maximum temperature in the national capital is 31 degrees and the minimum temperature is 14 degrees. Air pollution is likely to rise during winter.
Reduced wind intensity and burning of agricultural crop residues in nearby states including Punjab and Haryana have led to higher pollution levels. At the same time, the Delhi government is planning to initiate projects to reduce air pollution levels. The Aam Aadmi government has decided to start the Red Light Dekho Gaddi Off campaign this year like last year.
