Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao’s daughter K Kavita arrested in Delhi liquor license scam case. ED and IT departments searched the residence of BRS leader Kavitha in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, who was taken into custody in the afternoon. After the raid, those who were taken into custody will be taken to Delhi.
K Kavita’s arrest comes as Lok Sabha elections are around the corner. Moreover, the arrest of the opposition party leader also comes as the Congress government in Telangana is about to complete 100 days tomorrow. Moreover, the news of the arrest has come out when Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to hold a roadshow in the evening at Malkajgiri in Hyderabad today.
Delhi Sessions Court has asked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to appear before the Magistrate Court in the same case. In 2024, Kavita was summoned twice by the ED and the IT department. Kavitha did not respond to this. Earlier, the ED had arrested Kavita’s associate and a liquor baron in Hyderabad, Arun Ramachandra Pillai.
The ED found that the license of liquor sale, which was under the Delhi government, was handed over to the private sector in 2021, and there were scandals including the disclosure of black money under its cover. It is also reported that in this deal involving Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Kavita and AAP leader Vijay Nair, the liquor industry got undeserved profits.
