Thiruvananthapuram: Covid vaccine distribution started in the country. The trucks left Pune with the first load. The first loads of Covshield left Pune. The vaccine is carried in three trucks with temperature adjustment. The vaccine is still available in four major hubs, including Chennai.
The vaccine will be flown in 10 flights from Pune to 13 destinations across the country. These include Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, and Guwahati. Eight passenger planes and two cargo planes are used to deliver the vaccine. The distribution will be made from 13 centers to all states.
With the government issuing a purchase order for Covshield yesterday, all the hurdles that led to the delay in the supply of the vaccine have been removed. The vaccine is delivered by air from the Pune Serum Institute to Karnal, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Hubs. It will then be taken to 37 distribution centers in the states.
Vaccination in the country will start on January 16. The vaccine will first be given to 30 million people on the priority list, including health workers, cleaners, police, and soldiers.
