New Delhi: The clinical trial of Covaxin manufactured by Bharat Biotech has started in children. The clinical trials are being conducted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna. On May 11, the Drugs Controller of India, Bharat Biotech, gave the go-ahead for testing the vaccine on children.
Two- and three-stage clinical trials were approved for children aged 2 to 18 years. India launched the vaccine campaign on January 26 this year. In the first phase, the vaccine was given to health workers. Currently, the vaccine is approved in the country for people over 18 years of age.
Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin, Serum Institute’s Kovishield, and Russia’s Sputnik are currently being distributed in the country. Meanwhile, China’s second vaccine has been approved by the World Health Organization.
