New Delhi: Chinese troops have redeployed 90 percent of their troops in the eastern Ladakh sector. The troops, who had been deployed for the past one year, were reportedly redeployed following bad weather following the severe cold. In addition to the extreme cold, high latitude and other related problems are reported to have adversely affected Chinese troops.

Since April-May last year, 50,000 troops have been deployed near the Indian border in eastern Ladakh. However, the troops were withdrawn from the Pagong Lake area after the Indo-Chinese troops came face to face and clashed.
Indian troops will be deployed in the high-altitude zone for two years. In addition, 40 to 50 percent of the troops are redeployed each year. At the same time, the service period of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel can be more than two years.

East Ladakh and Pagong Lake, which cross the Line of Control, are areas of conflict. The clash erupted when Indian forces blocked an attempt by Chinese troops to enter the area. Twenty Indian soldiers were martyred in the conflict on June 16, 2020.
