New Delhi: CBI custody of P Chidambaram, who was arrested in the INX media case, was extended till Monday. Chidambaram, who was produced before the court today, said he would not oppose the remand. The CBI has told the court that Chidambaram is being questioned again on documents. The CBI also informed the court that the investigation is progressing.
Chidambaram has been in CBI custody for eight days. Chidambaram’s plea challenging the CBI’s arrest is being considered by the Supreme Court on Monday. Chidambaram’s plea for anticipatory bail pending in Enforcement case Until then there will be no enforcement arrests as he is protected. The CBI arrested Chidambaram on August 21. The court directed the Enforcement Directorate to submit evidence against Chidambaram in sealed envelopes.
Chidambaram’s lawyer, Kapil Sibal, says that the arrest of the Enforcement is being prepared without any proof. The Enforcement charge is to blame Chidambaram. Solicitor General Tushar Mehtha’s response to Enforcement’s reply was that all the evidence could not be investigated.
