The next milestone has been achieved by Chandrayaan-3 by entering into lunar orbit towards the accomplishment of a soft landing on the Moon’s surface. ISRO Has announced the report of successful insertion into the lunar trajectory.
On August 5 Lunar Orbit Insertion(LOI) maneuver was completed successfully. ISRO Tweeted “MOX, ISTRAC, this is Chandrayaan-3. I am feeling lunar gravity”. Chandrayaan-3 has been successfully inserted into lunar orbit. A retro-burning at the Perilune was commanded from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX), ISTRAC, Bengaluru. The next operation – reduction of orbit – is scheduled for Aug 6, 2023, around 23:00 Hrs. IST.
“The health of the spacecraft is being continuously monitored from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX) at ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru. All the systems of Chandrayaan-3 are healthy”, announced ISRO.
The following lunar orbit manoeuver is planned for tomorrow at approximately 23:00 hrs IST. Over the first weeks of August, the spacecraft is assigned to complete 5 to 6 orbits around the moon, slowly transitioning to a circular 100 km orbit.
Precisely around the following 10 days, the landing site on the southern pole of the moon will be specified. Thereafter, the craft will be deorbited and prompted for a soft landing attempt on August 23 at 5:47 pm. India’s Chandrayaan-3 is continuing its journey towards a remarkable lunar landing attainment.
