Case of molesting female students in fake NCC camp: The main accused died of poisoning

Chennai: The main accused in the incident of sexually assaulting girls under the guise of a fake NCC camp in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district has died of poisoning.

Sivaraman, the leader of the youth wing of the political party Naam Tamizhar Party, died at the Salem Govt Medical College Hospital. Police say that he had taken poison before he was arrested.

Sivaraman, who was absconding, was arrested by the police in Coimbatore on Monday. The police said that Sivaraman had consumed poison before he was arrested at 5.15 am. Sivaraman was undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital in Krishnagiri after sustaining a fracture in his leg while trying to escape from the police. He was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Salem after his health deteriorated.

12 girls studying in 8th standard are fake NCC. The accused including Sivaraman were tortured in the camp. The Bargur all-women police have so far arrested 11 people, including two teachers, the principal and the manager of the school, in connection with the case. A case was registered against them under the POCSO Act.

To intensify the investigation and submit the charge sheet within 60 days, Chief Minister MK Stalin instructed the police. The case is being investigated by a special investigation team. The investigation team is also probing whether similar crimes have been committed in other schools.
