Kathmandu: At least 14 people, including two children, were killed in a road accident in eastern Nepal’s Shankhuwasabha district on Thursday. The bus was traveling from Madi in Shankhuvasabha to Damascus when it met with an accident at Sat Gumti in Madi Municipality-6 at around 7 am.
The bodies of 14 passengers were recovered, said DSP Lal Dhwaj Subedi, head of the district police office and Shankhuvasabha. DSP Subedi said over the phone that five people were injured.
The initial conclusion of the police was that speeding was the cause of the accident. Five of the injured were airlifted to hospital. There were 21 people on the bus. The injured are being treated at Chainpur Hospital.
