Bengaluru: BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa will be sworn in as chief minister tomorrow after the defeat of the Congress-JDS alliance in the trust vote in Karnataka. Yeddyurappa will meet the Governor today to form the government.
BS Yeddyurappa is back as Chief Minister after a gap of 14 months with Kumaraswamy’s resignation following to the failure of the confidence vote. The BJP is the single largest party with 105 MLAs in the Karnataka Assembly. If the dissidents resign or disqualify them, the BJP will be overwhelmingly supported by the two independents. That is why the BJP decided to claim to form the government.
The motion passed by Chief Minister Kumaraswamy was supported by 99 members. 105 were opposed. Kumaraswamy’s reply speech lasted for about an hour and started the trust vote in the assembly.
