Pathanamthitta: Vigilance caught a doctor in Pathanamthitta while accepting the bribe. Doctor Shaji Mathew of Pathanamthitta General Hospital was caught with bribe money. Shaji Mathew is a doctor in the Ophthalmology department. The vigilance came after a complaint of taking bribes from patients coming for surgery. 3,000 was recovered from him.
Vigilance arrested the doctor while taking bribes from the complainant, a native of Thumpamon. Shaji Mathew demanded money for the eye surgery of the complainant’s father. The accused will be produced in Thiruvananthapuram Vigilance Court today. The action was led by Vigilance DySP, Pathanamthitta.
