New Delhi: The BJP has secured continuity of government in the Hindi heartland of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and the northeastern state of Manipur. The BJP, the largest single party in Goa, retained power with the help of independents. Adityanath will be the next Chief Minister of UP, which has been in power for three decades. Out of 403 in the state, the BJP won 274 constituencies.
This is a decrease of 48 seats compared to the last election. The Samajwadi Party-RLD alliance, which made great strides, won 124 seats. The Congress won two seats, the BSP one, and the others two. In the 2017 elections, the BJP won 312 seats. SP jumped from 47 seats. It was able to win an additional 72 seats. The BJP was reduced from 19 seats to one seat, while the Congress, which had won seven seats, was reduced to two seats by a heavy margin. In Manipur, the BJP won 32 of the 60 assembly seats. Biren Singh himself will be the Chief Minister of the state.
The Congress, which contested in 54 seats, won only five seats. The National People’s Party, which stood alone outside the BJP alliance, won seven seats and became the second-largest party. The JDU won six seats and the others ten. The largest party in the state in the 2017 elections was Congress. This time 23 seats were lost. In Uttarakhand, where exit polls predicted a Congress-BJP alliance, the result was reversed. Congress could not fight the BJP for long. But the defeat of incumbent Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was a setback for the BJP. The BJP won 48 seats, the Congress 18, the BJP two, and the others two. Goa needs 21 seats for a simple majority in the 40 – member assembly. The BJP has improved its tally from 20 seats to 20 seats. The Congress won 12 seats and the Trinamool won two. AAP and Independents won three seats each.
