Chandigarh: Haryana Sports Minister Sandeep Singh has resigned in the wake of a complaint filed by a woman alleging sexual harassment. A junior athletics coach made allegations of sexual harassment against the minister.
Chandigarh police registered a case based on the complaint filed on Friday. The minister resigned after the case was filed.
But Sandeep denied the allegations and alleged that an attempt was being made to tarnish his image. The minister demanded a strong investigation into the false allegations made against him. Until the results of the investigation, the responsibility of the sports department is handed over to the Chief Minister, Sandeep Singh said in his resignation.
The complainant made the allegation by calling a press conference at the Indian National Lok Dal office and demanding security. Sandeep Singh was a hockey star and the captain of the Indian national hockey team.
