Beware of fake recruitment ads: NORKA

NORKA said people should be vigilant against advertisements in various new media regarding employment opportunities abroad, fake investment opportunities targeting non-residents, money chains, student visa offers and recruitment through visit visas. The warning comes amid increasing complaints that candidates are being cheated by giving fake advertisements.

The position of the recruitment agency and the employing organization in the advertisements should be ensured primarily. One can check whether the recruitment agency is accredited through the Ministry of External Affairs’ e-migrate portal (https://emigrate.gov.in). In addition, the recruitment license number of the agencies should be displayed in all advertisements. Recruitment agencies also require separate license to start other branches. Candidates should note these things.

Special recruitment drives require prior approval from authorized agencies and the Union Ministry of External Affairs.
This can be ensured through e-migrate portal. The authentication of foreign employment and educational institutions should be confirmed by contacting the Indian Embassy in the respective country or the embassies of the respective countries in India through e-mail and phone.

Information on blacklisted recruitment agencies, Ministry of External Affairs cautions and other travel warnings are available on the e-Migrate portal. There is also an opportunity to check the status of advertisements by contacting the Protector of Emigrants (POE) offices under the Ministry of External Affairs at Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam in person or by phone. Payments (legitimate fees only) will be made only after confirmation of information. Victims of fraud should file a complaint with the Protector of Emigrants, Operation Shubhayatra in Norka and the nearest police station. Also try to inform through Common Service Centers (https://digitalseva.csc.gov.in/) or directly through Ministry of External Affairs Madad (https://www.madad.gov.in/) portal or e-migrate portal. This will help in controlling those involved in such crimes at the national level. For complaints and enquiries, call Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra (PBSK) toll-free helpline number 1800 11 3090, international helpline number (call charges apply): +91 11 26885021,+91 11 40503090 or in Malayalam 0484-2314900, 2314901 (10AM-05PM). ) Contact numbers or e-mail ([email protected]).
