Tokyo: BCCI announces prizes for Indian medalists at Tokyo Olympics. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash award of Rs 1 crore for Neeraj Chopra’s Olympic javelin gold medalist. The BCCI will also present an award of Rs 1.25 crore to the Indian hockey team that won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Meanwhile, Indian cricketers announced a cash award of Rs 50 lakh for silver medalists, wrestlers Ravi Kumar Dahiya and weightlifter Meerabhai Chanu, and individual bronze medalists PV Sindhu (badminton), boxer Lowellina Borgohein and wrestlers for Rs 50 lakh. BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced on his Twitter page.
The whole country is proud of Neeraj Chopra’s gold medal achievement. Neeraj Chopra, the lone gold medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, is receiving a shower of prizes. Chennai Super Kings, the IPL franchise, had announced a prize of Rs 1 crore for Neeraj. The Haryana government had announced a cash award of Rs 6 crore for Neeraj Chopra. In addition, the state government, the Railways, and the Indian Olympic Association have announced cash awards for Neeraj.
India returns from Tokyo with the most medals in history. India won seven medals, including one gold, two silver, and four bronze. The record at the London Olympics has become a legend. When Neeraj Chopra became an Indian hero in Tokyo with a historic medal in athletics, hockey teams and women players, including Meerabhai Chanu, were proud of their strong presence.
