New Delhi: Fuel will no longer be available in Delhi without a smoke test certificate. From the 25th of this month, a certificate is required to get petrol and diesel from the pumps. The government’s move to control the air pollution level comes as the winter season approaches in more than two months. According to the transport department, 13 lakh two-wheelers and 4 lakh cars currently do not have pollution control certificates in the state.
From the 25th of this month, all vehicles will need a pollution control certificate if they want to get petrol and diesel from the pumps. The decision was taken after a review meeting of environment-Transport-Traffic Departments. The department also provides six months imprisonment and a fine of ten thousand rupees to the vehicle owner without a certificate.
