New Delhi: Renowned actress Waheeda Rahman has been honored with the Dadasahib Phalke Award for Lifelong Contribution to the Film Industry. The announcement of the award was made by the Minister of Communications Anurag Thakur. Waheeda is a talent who is widely acclaimed for her acting skills in films like Guide, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam. He was awarded Padma Shri in 1972 and Padma Bhushan in 2011.
Waheeda Rahman has won critical acclaim for her performances in films like Pyaasa, Kagas Ke Phool, Chaudhavi Ka Chand, Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam, Guide, Khamoshi and many more. Waheeda Rahman was born on February 3, 1938 in Chengalpet, Tamil Nadu. Debut in 1955 Telugu film Rojulu Marai. She has acted in more than 90 films.
Waheeda Rahman won the Filmfare Award for the first time for Guide released in 1965. Waheeda won the Filmfare Award for the second time with Neelkamal, which was released in 1968. She won the National Film Award for her role in the film ‘Reshma and Shera’. The country honored Waheeda Rehman with Padma Shri (1972) and Padma Bhushan (2011).
