Lucknow: At least seven children were killed when a vehicle carrying 29 passengers overturned into a canal. The incident happened at around 3 am this morning. All the passengers were returning home after attending a wedding ceremony.
Although 22 were rescued by locals.
The remaining 7 children were not found. NDRF and drowning experts have been deployed for rescue operations. Senior police officer SK Bhagat said rescue operations were difficult as the canal had a heavy flow.
He added that the flow of water was being regulated and measures had been taken to ensure that the bodies of the children did not flow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath observed the incident and directed the rescue teams to reach the scene.
