Pune: The bail granted to a 17-year-old in the case of killing two people while driving drunk in Pune has been cancelled. The 17-year-old was granted bail within hours of the accident after his grandfather assured him that he would not join bad associations. The bail was canceled after a review petition was filed by the Juvenile Justice Board against the Pune police bail. The child was shifted to observation home.
Two software engineers were killed when the Porsche car driven by the 17-year-old crashed. The police had charged a case under the Juvenile Justice Act against the child’s father. The police have found that the child was drunk at the time of the accident.
The boy is the son of a real estate tycoon. Immediately after being taken into custody, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. Bail was also granted within hours. The board has asked the regional transport office to study the traffic rules and submit a presentation before the board within 15 days and write an essay of not less than 300 words on road accidents and their solutions. The police have requested permission to treat the child as an adult.
