New Delhi: India has taken another important step towards 5G, the new generation network. Cabinet approves 5G spectrum auction.
The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday approved the Spectrum pricing for the 5G auction. 5G services are likely to be launched in the country by the end of this year. The government has approved the auction of the 5G spectrum. The auction is for the 72097.85 MHz spectrum.
The spectrum is for 20 years. The auction is expected to be completed by the end of July. Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea are all set to launch the first phase of 5G deployment. The 5G offer is ten times faster than the current 4G.
The government had announced that the auction would take place this year. Telecom service providers will use the Medi Range and High Range band spectrum for 5G deployment.
After ten years, companies can surrender Spectrum if they want to. 5G phones are already active in the mobile phone market. It is predicted that 5G will open up new job opportunities and lead to a new revolution in technology.
