Manila: 50 dead in flash floods and landslides following heavy rains in the Philippines. About 60 people are missing in the southern province where the floods are raging. Official sources also informed that many houses were washed away in the flood.
Philippine Interior Minister Nagoob Sinarimbo said more than 40 people were missing in three towns in the autonomous region of Maguindanao.
According to disaster relief personnel, around 10 people were killed in the disaster at various places. Army Lieutenant Colonel Dennis Almonato visited the flood-affected areas. More rescue workers will be sent to the flood zone. He also said that the rescue workers are trying to shift the people trapped in their houses to safe places.
