New Delhi: As the Lok Sabha elections are around the corner, the Dearness allowance (DA) of central employees has been increased by four percent. The decision was taken at the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The enhanced Dearness allowance will come into effect from 1st January 2024. 449.18 lakh central government employees and 67.95 lakh retirees will benefit from the increase in dearness allowance.
The dearness allowance has been increased based on the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. Before this, the allowance was increased in October.
