Mumbai: Twenty people have been killed in heavy rains in Mumbai since last night, while 11 people were killed when a wall collapsed in Chembur. More people are trapped in the debris, police said.
The bodies of 10 people were found by the locals. The National Disaster Response Force reached the spot and found the body of a woman.
Sixteen people were hospitalized with injuries. A two-story building collapsed in Vikhroli, killing three people. Two are being treated for injuries. The bodies are being kept at the Government Hospital in Ghatkopar. A red alert has been issued in Mumbai today. Public transport was disrupted in many places due to the floods. The Central Government has announced assistance to the families of those killed in the wall collapse. The Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund has announced Rs 2 lakh each for the families of the dead and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
