Former Santosh Trophy player Elayilath Hamzakoya (61) died due to COVID. Hamzakoya, who was hospitalized with symptoms of COVID, had severe pneumonia and shortness of breath. Hamsakoya is the first person to die in Kerala after treatment with plasma therapy.
Hamsakoya hails from Parappanangadi in Malappuram and has lived in Maharashtra for a long time. He returned to Maharashtra with his family on May 21st. Hamzakoya has been subjected to plasma therapy since her condition deteriorated yesterday afternoon.
Hamzakoya’s daughter-in-law and two three-year-old children were diagnosed with the disease.
Hamzakoya, who has played the Santosh Trophy for Maharashtra, has been selected to the national camp twice. He was a Maharashtra star for almost five years. He has also played for Western Railway, Union Bank, RCF, Tata Sports Club, and Orkai Mills.
