Now, she has achieved a rare feat of multiple releases in a single day. On the recent International Women’s Day, four of her movies and one web series were released on OTT platforms. The film industry considers this a dream-like achievement that rarely occurs for any actor in world cinema.
Anumol, who began her career as an anchor, has immortalized characters with significant acting roles in Malayalam cinema, in her own unique way. Chaiyilam, Megharoopan, Vedivazhipadu, Njan, Akam, Rock Star, Udalaazham, and other films have showcased Anumol’s exemplary acting prowess and depth of characters portrayed. After debuting as an actress in Tamil cinema, she ventured into Malayalam cinema, seeking roles that demand both depth and versatility. With her presence in web series, she has also gained the affection of Tamil audiences.
Apart from films like Padmini, Two Men, Udalaazham, Rani: The Royal Story, Anumol’s March 8 release includes Tamil web series Heartbeat.
“Padmini” is the biopic of the legendary Indian painter TK Padmini. The movie is produced by TK Gopalan under the banner of TK Padmini Memorial Trust. It marks the directorial debut of the well-known writer and scriptwriter Susmesh Chandroth, who also wrote the script. The film portrays Padmini’s life from 1940 to 1969 in Kerala and old Madras. “C Space” is the OTT platform that released the movie, which mirrors the social life of Kerala during that era. Anumol portrays the character of Padmini in the movie.
The road movie “Two Men” stands out on OTT platforms for its unique narrative set against the backdrop of Gulf Malayalee life. Directed and scripted by K Satheesh, renowned director MA Nishad and Irshad Ali play central characters in the film, with Anumol portraying the role of the important character Anitha. Manual D’cruz produced the movie under the banner of D group and released it on the “C Space” platform.
“Udalazham” is the movie that depicts the crises faced by Gulikan, a transgender tribal youth. Directed by Unnikrishnan Avala and featured at prestigious events such as the Kerala International Film Festival and the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, where the film received critical acclaim. Anumol’s character plays a crucial role in the life of Gulikan in the movie. This movie has also made its way to OTT platforms through C Space.
“Rani: The Real Story” is the movie directed by Sankar Ramakrishnan after the success of “Pathinettam Padi”. Along with Anumol, it includes a stellar cast comprising actors like Niyathi Kadambi, Bhavana, Urvasi, Honey Rose, Mala Parvathi, Indrans, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Guru Somasundaram. It tells the story of a mysterious housemaid accused and framed for the murder of a powerful MLA, but she strongly defended by three families for whom she works, in the border town of Dharmapuram. Anumol portrays the character Sona in the movie, which features numerous strong female characters. The movie is released on the Manorama Max OTT platform.
The first season of the Tamil web series “Heartbeat,” consisting of four episodes, has now been released. Anumol stars as Dr. Radhi, the central character in the medical drama depicted in “Heartbeat,” which delves into the backdrop of the medical field. The creators announce that the second season of the series will soon be available. Deepa Balu, Yogalakshmi, and Thapa are among the other main characters in the series. It has been released on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar.
