Srinagar: An Indian soldier martyred on Tuesday as the army foiled an infiltration bid by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Batal sector. Lance heroine Subhash Kumar was killed. The police said that the body was handed over to the army after post-mortem. Officials said a joint team of the Army, police, CRPF and Village Defense Group (VDG) cordoned off the area in Batal sector of Poonch district following frequent gunfights with terrorists throughout the day. The military’s White Knight Corps has confirmed that counter-operations are still ongoing. There are also casualties on the side of the terrorists.
A soldier and a civilian were injured while the security forces foiled a twin terrorist attack on a military post and a village defense group member’s house in Rajouri district yesterday. Three Pakistani terrorists attacked the army camp. The terrorists first fired at the house of the VDG member. When the security personnel responded, the terrorists hurled a grenade. Later, after the terrorists attacked the newly established army post in the area, there was another firing. A terrorist is believed to have been killed. The injured soldier and civilian were admitted to the hospital. In the last 45 days, there have been 15 terror attacks in the Jammu region, killing 11 security personnel, including two officers, and 9 pilgrims. 58 people were injured.
