New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Education has directed that no evaluation of students should be done for two or three weeks even if the schools are open. The guidelines issued by the ministry on opening schools as part of Unlock 5.
Earlier, the Union Home Ministry had said that states could decide whether to reopen schools after October 15. This was followed by the issuance of guidelines by the Ministry of Education. The guidelines state that all schools must have task forces to ensure cleanliness. The entire school campus should be cleaned and disinfected.
Social distance should be ensured when students come to school, go back, and sit in class. Masks should be worn in classrooms. Make the necessary changes to the academic calendar. Ensure that the services of doctors and nurses are available. Attendance should not be tightened. The guidelines state that students and staff should be allowed sick leave if needed and that students should be given the freedom to decide whether to attend a school or continue online classes.
