Thiruvananthapuram: Antigen testing is sufficient to discharge COVID patients in the state. Until now, patients have been discharged after undergoing a PCR examination. The change in the discharge protocol is also in line with the increasing number of COVID patients in the state. The Department of Health has issued an order regarding the new changes.
This is the second time the state has changed the discharge protocol. Earlier, the patients were discharged after performing two PCR tests and confirming that they were negative. Later, as the number of patients increased, it was decided that a PCR test negative was sufficient. This has been changed again.
In asymptomatic patients, an antigen test may be performed 10 days after the first positive result. If the result is negative, the patient can leave the hospital. It is advised not to go to public places or interact with people. This is the protocol for individuals with mild symptoms.
Patients with significant symptoms of category B will be tested 14 days after the first positive result. If negative, leave the hospital.
