New Delhi: With the government announcing a ‘full lockdown’ to curb coronal expansion, the government has ensured food security for people below the poverty line.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet meeting has decided to provide wheat at Rs 2 a kg and rice at Rs 3 per kg for the next three months, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters in New Delhi. It will benefit 80 million people in the country.
He said the lockdown was announced but that there would be no shortage of food or essential items and that the process for the fiscal package was in progress. Fake news should be rejected, he said, adding that the information provided by the Union health ministry should be trusted.
Lockdown has been announced in the country for 21 days as part of its fight against coronation. Corona has so far confirmed 584 people in the country. 13 people lost their lives.
